Trump Administration Poised to Deport Chinese Journalists Day After Election News

Chinese reporters were notified last week that they had received their visa extensions, but they were only valid until Nov. 4, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin told reporters on Monday. They will not be able to work in the U.S. after that date until they receive confirmation of another extension.
Wang warned that China would take reciprocal action against American journalists operating in China if the U.S. government did not reverse its course. Beijing since March has expelled all but a little more than a dozen American journalists for not responding to demands for more detailed information about their operations.
The State Department in a statement to U.S. News on Monday defended the situation as "routine and lawful" and blasted China threats earlier in the day as "just another example of the attempt to legitimize its bullying and suppress a truly free press in China."
